If you are a teacher using this site...

Max RileyWelcome to the Nayland College Mathematics site.

I am a Secondary Mathematics teacher at Nayland College (Nelson, New Zealand) who embraces the use of technology in the classroom. I have used interactive whiteboard technology but now favor a tablet laptop combined with a data projector, as well as overhead projectors, whiteboard, textbook, and worksheets.

The internet is vast and so often we search Google for resources or links and end up frustrated. Often web material does not suit the New Zealand classroom or our needs, or it would end up being quicker to make up a worksheet.

My aim is to use and share the use of technology in the classroom with other teachers. We all have many resources made over the years and the digital age allows for easy sharing. Teachers must be really good at circle geometry because we all reconstruct the wheel many, many times.

Local Mathematics Associations and school Departments provide some means of sharing resources but there is no national system for teachers to pool and share the many resources we all make and have saved on our laptops.

This website started as my own teaching website, has enlarged to become the Nayland College maths website, and is now starting to be a means for resource sharing via the web.

Please feel free to download and use any resources in this website and share with other maths teachers. In return, all I ask is for you to please e-mail me any resources or links which you would be prepared to share with others and make available on-line. These will be added to the website (and acknowledged)

Resources do not have to be of professional quality - the focus is on sharing and combining resources and activities.

In this website some topics are still under construction and unfinished. Large fonts and images are often used to suit data projector use, and many excel spreadsheets contain macros.

Any resources, comments, suggestions, improvements, broken links etc please email me at maxr@nayland.school.nz

Enjoy...

Max Riley
